Any pet lover will tell you that all animals deserve our love and attention.
Whether talking about an orphaned puppy seeking a forever home or a pet alligator that is being torn from its family, each and every creature has to be cared for in times of need.
But most animal lovers don't immediately think of a goldfish when they think about a pet requiring medical attention. And yet, one such goldfish not only desperately needed help, but he found an incredible hero that gave him a second chance at life.
Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology recently posted a strange photo of a goldfish on Facebook — one that has since gained the attention of people around the world.
In the photo, a veterinarian holds a tiny goldfish in his hand, as he attaches some kind of device to the fish's mouth. And when I found out what this device was, I was absolutely floored.

Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology posted this photo showing a fish they refer to as "Mr. Hot Wing."
The post read: "Fish braces!!?? Mr. Hot Wing came in today for trouble breathing and inability to eat. He was born without a lower jaw bone and his mouth could not stay open."
Fortunately, a local veterinarian known as the "Pet Fish Doctor" was able to use his skills to save the day.
The Facebook post continued: "Brian Palmeiro did surgery to open his mouth and created this brace to help his mouth stay open."
Dr. Palmeiro is a fish health specialist known for his skill and knowledge surrounding aquatic life, such as Mr. Hot Wing.
Unsure of how exactly to approach the goldfish's specific jaw problem, he did research and decided to make a custom set of "braces" out of a small piece of credit card.
The tiny contraption was designed to help the goldfish eat and breathe properly, so that he could live out a normal life, just like any other fish.
Dr. Palmer told ABC News that the entire surgery cost roughly $150.
Thanks to the folks at Lehigh Valley Veterinary Dermatology, Dr. Palmeiro's brilliant work, and a repurposed credit card, Mr. Hot Wing will now get the second chance at life that he so desperately needs and deserves.
