The journey of adopting a rescue dog is often filled with surprises and heartwarming moments, but for one woman, the experience took an unexpectedly comical turn. What began as an act of compassion and kindness turned into a tale that highlights the unique and sometimes amusing traits of our four-legged companions.
GeoBeats Animals YouTube channel shares the story of Kelsey and Pipsqueak, and why this little baby puppy is not like most dogs. Pipsqueak came from a puppy mill and was rescued when that puppy mill was raided. After she was rescued, she was put into a foster home, but she wasn’t able to stay there long.
Pipsqueak’s former foster father had to get a lung transplant, so all of his foster animals had to be rehomed so he could have a place to recover. Pipsqueak soon had a foster mother, who knew Kelsey and contacted her about Pipsqueak. She told Kelsey, “We have this special needs little dog and no one to take her.”
Even though Kelsey just moved from Wisconsin to Indiana, after that phone call she quickly got in her car and drove back to Wisconsin to get Pipsqueak. Kelsey and her husband were only supposed to temporarily foster Pipsqueak, but she captured their hearts immediately.
Pipsqueak’s estimated lifespan was only six months, but that did not stop Kelsey from taking her as her own. Kelsey wanted to fill her life with as much love and joy as she could. When Kelsey first brought her home, and Pipsqueak got comfortable, she started to use her big girl bark, but it turned out that her bark sounded just like a duck, which made her even more adorable!

Since Kelsey adopted Pipsqueak, her love for small dogs grew. Kelsey and her husband have adopted six more small dogs! All of them are either senior dogs or have special needs or behavioral issues and they all get to sleep in the bed with them.
Just to reassure everyone, even though Pipsqueak’s life span was only supposed to be six months, she defied all odds and is still quacking at her parents eight years later!
