Hip-hop musician Pitbull is most famous for his collaborations with superstars like Jennifer Lopez and Shakira, but he's also a well-known philanthropist.
Right now, as Puerto Rico reels in the wake of Hurricanes Maria and Irma, he is showing the world that he has a heart of gold, and will do anything it takes to help people.
Sometimes called "Mr. Worldwide" for his globe-crossing tours, the musician has set the limelight aside in favor of sending aid to Puerto Rico as the island attempts to recover from this devastating hurricane season.
Storms like Irma and Maria have left the unincorporated US territory in dire conditions as most of the population is without electricity.
The situation is so serious that it has spurred donations from all types of celebrities who have ties to the region, such as Jennifer Lopez.
Pitbull decided to put his private jet to good use by sending it to Puerto Rico to pick up critically ill cancer patients who would probably not make it unless they could quickly get to the mainland.

Pitbull has a reputation as a cocky musician, but that public image belies his passion for philanthropy.
With his power and fame, he created a charter school to serve the underprivileged kids in his home community of Miami.
And in the wake of this devastating hurricane season, he is once again putting his many resources to good use.

Pitbull has been extremely humble about his activities helping hurricane victims. He has moved heaven and earth to help trapped cancer patients get treatment.
CNN reports that when asked to comment, they received this message from the rapper through a spokesperson: "Thank God we're blessed to help. Just doing my part."

Of course, with the internet, barely anything can be kept secret. When the congresswoman for Puerto Rico found out about his activities, she publicly thanked the musician.
Her Tweet translates to:
Thanks to the singer @pitbull x for lending your private plane to transfer cancer patients from PR to the USA so that they can receive chemo @DeptSaludPR

Unfortunately, Puerto Rico was in a very tough spot this hurricane season.
CNN reports that the island is suffering from mass power outages, and that more than half the residents are without drinking water.

The power and resource outage is particularly devastating for those who are battling cancer and dependent on machines to continue their battle.
According to CNN, only 11 of the island's 69 hospitals had access to fuel to keep their technology working and patients in a stable state.

At a hospital in San Juan, two patients have died as a result of their machines not being able to connect to power. A reported 12 children are fighting for their lives using battery power and generators.

Luckily, Pitbull able to help transport a number of patients to hospitals on the mainland, where they can seek proper care.
