This past February, police in Carrollton, TX shined a light into a suspicious car during the middle of the night. Inside, they found a homeless couple asleep with a small child.
The couple were employed, but had recently moved to Texas and were temporarily homeless. They were forced to sleep in the car with their one-year-old daughter until they could move into their apartment. After hearing the family’s story, the officers decided the family needed help, not handcuffs. That's when they did something incredible — they got the family a hotel room and some necessities to get them through.
A city employee was so touched by the officers' act of kindness that she described the story on the Carrollton Police Facebook page. This one simple post sparked an outpouring of support from the local community. Strangers began flooding to the police department to donate food, clothes, bedding, housewares, gift cards, plus diapers and toys for the couple's young daughter.
The grateful family did not want to be identified. Neither did the officers involved, who weren't in it for the glory.
Bravo to the men and women involved in this incredible act of kindness. With all the negative stories involving officers these days, this reminds us there are those who truly serve and protect. Please SHARE this video with your friends on Facebook!
