It's hard to believe that it's been over 47 years since The Beatles came out with one of their most legendary songs from one of their most legendary albums!
The Beatles were at their absolute peak and things didn't seem like they would ever slow down. George Harrison, while not the band's usual songwriter, came up with the devastatingly beautiful and haunting lyrics of the song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps," which made its way to The White Album.
The song itself has since been voted as easily one of the Top 500 songs of all time by Rolling Stone magazine, and is considered the seventh most beautiful song for guitars on their acclaimed list. And in 2004, the song finally made it to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, where to celebrate its induction, Tom Petty was chosen to play alongside George Harrison's son, Dhani.
But at the 2:10 mark, none other than Prince comes onstage. While he doesn't play much at first, a bit later in the song he delivers one of the most incredible guitar solos of all time. While Prince didn't know George personally, there seems to be a huge amount of respect he has for the man in this now classic and famous video.
Though we have lost Prince, his incredible power behind the guitar will always be remembered. The video below shows just how much control he had of his instrument, and how big of a loss to the music world this truly will turn out to be.
Alongside Tom Petty, this video has all the makings of a massive viral hit and already has 10 million views. But when you see Prince's breathtaking performance, you'll see who really owned the night. Prince played so passionately that he almost fell off the stage and had to be held up! This really is such a huge loss and we can only hope that the rest of 2016 will be a bit kinder to the world's most talented people.
Please SHARE this incredible video if you will keep Prince and all the other great losses of 2016 in your thoughts and prayers!
