It's a heartbreaking fact to realize that there are so many dogs out there in the world who are in such desperate need of a forever home. With animal populations skyrocketing, it can really become a huge problem if dogs and cats aren't spayed or neutered and taken care of. Eventually there are just too many animals to handle, and some cities can even be overrun with strays.
Some people are so passionate about saving animals, they'll gladly spend thousands of dollars of their own money and countless hours of their precious time to dedicate to the sole mission of saving lives. American mom Mary and her daughters, Abby, Anna, and Alaina, spent a lot of time in Turkey in order to help as many dogs as possible.
Animal shelters in this country rarely euthanize dogs, and thus the shelters are often full to a dangerous degree. A shelter that the women volunteered at often had over 4,000 dogs at any given moment, and the conditions were truly shocking. While this family did their best to help as many animals possible, it was simply too much for so few. But they did everything they could.
So when Mary's little daughter spotted a dying puppy, she knew she had to bring the little baby home so she could die in peace and surrounded by love. The puppy was suffering from distemper, which causes severe neurological issues and nearly always leads to death.
But this little darling didn't seem to be aware that the odds were stacked against her. In fact, she decided to fight for her life and stay in this new forever home that she was destined to become a part of.
While it's sad that there are so many dogs out there in need of help, it's stories like these that remind us that there will always be hope if you have a little "Faith." With more families like this, maybe one day every dog will find a forever home!
