Two of my favorite things in the world are breakfast foods and desserts.
I try as often as possible to sweeten up my breakfast. I've added chocolate to my pancakes, I'm always ready for a scoop of vanilla ice cream on top of my waffles, and I've even made breakfast popsicles. But when I saw this amazing breakfast-dessert recipe? I'm trying this today.
While it probably is more of a dessert than a breakfast food, I'm not complaining. This super simple recipe turns cereal marshmallows into one of the most colorful and tasty treats I've ever seen.
Not only will these be a hit at any party, but they are very inexpensive to make. And if you have a sweet tooth like me, you might have everything you need already in your kitchen.
All you'll need are:
- 2 cups marshmallows
- 2 1/2 cups cereal marshmallows
- 1/4 cup butter
Now I just have to decide if whether to eat these for breakfast or dessert. Who am I kidding? I’m doing both!

This easy-to-make breakfast dessert only needs 2 cups of marshmallows, 2 1/2 cups of cereal marshmallows, and 1/4 cup of butter. This should make 15 servings, but if that's not enough, you can always double everything!
Start by melting 1/4 cup of butter in a saucepan over low heat.
Add your regular marshmallows in with the butter and continue to stir until they are completely melted and there is a smooth consistency. If you are using large marshmallows, cut them into smaller pieces before throwing them in the pan.
Throw in the cereal marshmallow pieces and start stirring. Now is the time to move fast to avoid melting the cereal marshmallows!
Stir until the cereal pieces are completely coated in your marshmallow and butter mix. If you're like me, you'll have to resist the urge to lick the spatula!
Grease up a baking pan using either butter or a nonstick spray.
Scoop the colorful cereal marshmallow mixture onto the baking pan and spread into a rectangle shape that is about an inch thick.
This next step is extremely difficult, because it involves waiting! Place the pan in the fridge for about 20 minutes.
Once the treats have set, remove the pan and cut them into small squares.
These tasty treats should take less than 30 minutes to make!
Now you have delicious rainbow cereal marshmallow squares that are ready for eating or serving (if you decide to share)!
