Husband Picks Up Lost Wallet From Police Station, But There’s A Second License Hidden Inside

Ray Laughter was filling his car up with gas one evening before church when the Memphis, Tennessee, man realized his wallet was missing. That meant that not only were his cards and money gone, but so was a special card he had been treasuring for years.

He and his wife decided to retrace their steps to locate the light-brown leather wallet. They made their way back to the road, but didn't see the wallet around anywhere. Suddenly, they spotted some clues in the street.

Some of the contents of his wallet were scattered on the concrete, leading them to believe that someone had found it just hours before their return. Then Ray called the police.

In the video below, posted on February 23, 2017, Ray recalls, "They said, 'Hey, Ray Laughter?' I said, 'Yeah.' They said, 'We've got that wallet.'"

Apparently, a man wearing blue scrubs picked up the wallet and turned it in not long after Ray left it on the top of his car and drove away.

What made the reunion between Ray and wallet special wasn't the money inside, but an old driver's license. Ray had been keeping his grandfather's driver's license inside one of the pockets to keep his memory alive after his passing.

Ray says, "It's the last picture we have before he passed away and he passed away in 1994 and the day after he passed, his license has been in my wallet ever since."

The Good Samaritan in blue will probably never learn how much his kind gesture meant to Ray, but his act surely didn't go unnoticed.

"Whomever he is, to stop in the middle of the road in oncoming traffic to find our wallet and to return it to the police precinct with everything intact means a lot," Rays says with a smile.
