When some people buy a house, they get so excited that they just want to customize every detail.
Everything from the house color to the plants in the lawn and even the welcome mat must be a reflection of their personality.
It seems excessive, but can you blame the zeal of this particular type of homeowner? Buying a house is a huge investment in which one spends a lot of their hard-earned money on, so a home should mirror who they are, what they like, and what makes them comfortable and happy.
And if classic style makes you smile, you will love this stunning DIY project! It is a mailbox created by Imgur user tylergarner. He and his brood wanted to create a handsome mailbox that gives everyone in their neighborhood, or passes by their lawn, a little taste of their good taste. If this is how their mailbox looks and I can’t even imagine how stunning the interior of their home must look as well. It’s like they flipped a simple mailbox into a masterpiece…
First, they started with 4'x4' fence posts and 1'x3' cedar.
The wood was then neatly cut to size.
Next the wood was refined with a little sanding using an 80 grit.
Once the wood was smooth, it was neatly stacked in the position in which it would eventually be assembled.
The wood was then stained with Minwax Spar Urethane.
They used four coats to make it look like rich walnut.
Next they pieced the mailbox together.
Supports were used to keep the structure strong and stable.
The address numbers were then laid out.
Then the silver numbers (they used Hillman Group, brushed nickel) were attached, creating a lovely contrast with the dark wood.
Leftover wood was used to make matching numbers for the house.
Once the post was fully done, all it needed was a brand new mailbox.
Finally, the striking new mailbox was put into the ground using 30-inch post spikes from Home Depot. The end result looks more like something straight out of a catalog than a home project!
