I want to enjoy the beauty of the great outdoors when I escape into nature. I want to breathe in fresh air and the aroma of pine, or walk barefoot on the grass as birds flutter by. I don’t want to smell rotting food, step on an aluminum can, or see a pile of discarded cardboard boxes, plastic bags, and banana peels.
Litter annoys me, but illegally dumped trash, especially in nature, is infuriating. The act seems lazy and selfish, and when I see it I always wonder to myself: “What kind of person would do that?”
Frederick Tomlinson, a man living in Queensland, Australia, feels the same way I do. He was walking around the “bush” in his neighborhood when he stumbled upon a huge heap of unwanted garbage and household items. Enraged by the disgusting nature of the act, he sifted through the debris and found something very interesting that allowed him to seek revenge — in a hilarious way!
Not only that, he got to find out more about the person who did this, and the offender seems about as appealing as a piece of trash…
This is what Frederick stumbled upon. Within the rubbish was a fish tank and children’s books.
But once he really started sorting through the garbage he stumbled up on something pretty interesting — and incriminating.
He found an ID, or documents with a name and address on it. It actually belonged to a neighbor. This is when Fredrick got a brilliant idea.
He loaded all of the stuff in his car and decided to return the “items” to their rightful owner.
Fredrick found another neighbor, a “bloke the size of Hercules,” who helped him haul the trash back to the man who dumped it. The man who was helping him knew more about the guy who had dumped the trash and filled him in.
“He done a house clean up 2 days ago,” he wrote on his Facebook page. “Blokes a drunk, bashed his wife, wife moved out with the kids.” Basically the dumper beat his wife and she left with their kids. The man then took all his wife and kids’ possessions and decided to illegally dump them. This revenge may not completely match the magnitude of his crimes — but it is a start.
