Jacob, a teen who attends La Jolla High School in San Diego, California, was called into school to receive an award.
He had no idea what the award was for, but at the end of the day, an award is an award!
In the video below, Jacob, his little sister Anna, and his mom arrive in the office surrounded by his fellow schoolmates to receive the award.
But when he arrives, there's a man seated with his back turned to them, wearing a baseball cap.
"Can I help you guys?" the man asks.
Jacob is confused.
And who wouldn't be? There isn't any award to be had there.
In fact, the entire "award ceremony" was just a ruse set up by Jacob and Anna's mom and her ex-husband, their dad, Chief Petty Officer Tyler Rostad.
When Tyler learned he would be returning from his deployment early, he decided to surprise his kids the same way soldiers surprise their loved ones in the videos Anna loves to watch.
So the little white lie of an award for Jacob was created, because what better way to surprise someone than to get them when they least expect it?
You have to see Anna's reaction when she realizes what is going on!
