There have been many inspiring animal rescues stories in 2014, but this next one will bring tears to your eyes.
Barely moving and emaciated, Rusty was moments away from death when rescuers from the San Antonio Animal Care Services found him. The neglected and abused dog weighed only 17 pounds and needed immediate medical attention. Thanks to his rescuers' quick actions — and the help of strangers — Rusty got the help he needed.
Today, he's recovering and thriving at a foster home and will be up for adoption soon. (You can follow his recovery on his official Facebook page.)
It's truly amazing to see the amazing work ACS has done at giving animals a second chance at life. As you can see from the photos below, Rusty is happy and healthy. His foster mom even caught him "smiling" for the camera. How sweet! It's too cute for words!
