Sometimes, all we need is a helping hand.
As Hurricane Harvey victims began returning to their homes, many found unexpected things waiting for them. However, nobody thought they would ever see an animal quite like this.
Samson the longhorn is well-known and beloved by his entire community in Rayford Road in Spring, Texas.
A neighbor named Amanda Sheridan told The Dodo, “His owners have had him since he was a calf. He's very much loved by them, and everyone in the community. He’s a gentle giant.”
Unfortunately, as the rain poured down, the longhorn sank deeper into the mud on his property. There was a chance he was going to drown if he remained trapped.
Then, the administrator of Rayford Road's community Facebook page, Kaeleigh Jordan, made a post for Samson's owner on Facebook that changed everything.
After begging for strangers to come help, something amazing happened.

Samson the longhorn was up to his head in mud and his owner couldn't get him out alone, so his story was posted Rayford Road Round Up Spring, Texas' Facebook page.

The post was a cry for help: Samson needed several people from his community to come out and help pull him out of the mud.

Then, something incredible happened: complete strangers began offering their help. They said they were going to show up and help dig Samson out.

It wasn't just a couple of people who came to the animal's aid. In fact, no fewer than 20 heroes showed up to save the day.

The volunteers moved the exhausted longhorn aside after successfully rescuing him from the mud.

Eventually, they took Samson inside his barn to recuperate and get some rest. Their beloved longhorn was going to be just fine.

In the end, everyone was thanked for all of their help and support. Because of them, Samson the longhorn made it through and could heal.

This is Samson today, after all he has been through. He's now living the life of a happy, healthy longhorn.
