Spray Painted Seashells Make For Beachy And Glamorous Home Decor

One of the funnest parts of going to the beach, among suntanning and splashing in the waves, is collecting seashells.

Fun for beachgoers who are both young and young at heart, collecting shells appeals to our inner archaeologist and treasure-hunting pirate all at once.

But when it comes time to leave the shore and take your seaside treasures home, it can be hard to decide what to do with them, although there are plenty of fun ways to combine seashells and art supplies.

Fortunately DIY-er Brooke Riley of Re-Fabbed found a fun, aesthetically-pleasing method to decorate seashells that also incorporates your (or your kids') favorite colors.

All you need is a clear jar, spray paint, and, of course, seashells to make this pretty decorative piece.

To create your own glamorous and beachy décor, all you need are a few simple seashells!

From her own beach trip, Riley collected a good assortment, then brought them home for clean up.

Almost any shells would be ideal for this project — though the larger they are, the better.

After cleaning them up, Riley took her shells and her favorite spray paint colors — and gave them a good coating.

After her shells were dry, she took a simple jar, in this case, a tall apothecary jar, and gently dropped them in.

Riley also made sure to spread out the colors evenly, so all the shades were nicely displayed.

This project is perfect for creating a decorative item that matches any room's color scheme. Simply pick out paints that match the room and spray away.

You can also try going monochromatic, using gray tones or having your kids pick out which colors they want.
