Ice skating is one of my favorite winter sports. For lucky people in Sweden, they aren't confined to an indoor skating rink. Instead, they can enjoy nature at its finest and go skating on Lake Blanktjärn.
When standing on the beautiful frozen lake, the five-inch thick ice is clear enough to see through to the bottom and witness the fish swimming around. In the following video, a couple took their skates and their dogs out to enjoy a beautiful day.
Nature's wonders are truly captivating! The couple's footage is absolutely breathtaking — I don't think I've ever seen ice this clear before!
Although these skaters had a great experience, in most cases, there are grave dangers to walking on frozen lakes when temperatures stay around freezing. It's important to stay away from frozen lakes — despite how enticing and safe it may seem — unless you're certain the ice has been frozen for a while. Even if you're on a popular skating spot, like Lake Blanktjärn, it's important to exercise extreme caution before ever walking across a frozen lake.
