Moms everywhere have been fighting the good fight against body-shaming since the dawn of time, we just didn’t have the words to describe what, exactly — that was until recently.
Beauty standards have always been absurd, but it seems as though we’ve well and truly hit a new low. Everywhere you look, another magazine demands that you "shed the pounds" with a new diet pill or a wildly popular fitness regime.
Will it ever be enough? Unlikely.
Whether you’re a mom, a model, or a student, you’ve experienced something similar: a negative comment about your appearance is thrown your way, and you’re forced to decide whether to stoop to their level or rise above it.
Stacey Solomon, the former X Factor contestant and mom of two boys, was recently faced with this stressful decision.
To no one’s surprise, she handled it with all the grace and charm she’s known for by fans and admirers alike. Solomon wouldn’t allow the bullies to get her down, and she has a message to anyone who has experienced the same!
This is for all the women out there who were ever told they weren't good enough. Solomon's got some news for you: you're amazing just the way you are!

For those who don't follow her (yet!), Stacey Solomon has an incredibly active social media presence. She’s constantly posting upbeat messages accompanied by perfectly timed photos, and almost all of them are of her family and friends. It’s obvious that, although she’s certainly a famous celebrity, Solomon always makes time for the special people in her life who matter the most.
And she's never afraid to show off her silly side! She posted this photo along with the words, "Gonna getchya moohahahaha." Seriously, too cute!
Except nobody can spend any amount of time at the beach without being publicly shamed, apparently. The Sun spotted Solomon enjoying a beautiful sunny day and decided not only to snap a photo of her, but also to compare the mom's physique to her former X Factor competitor, Louisa Johnson. They published the following:
"X Factor stars show it’s a case of sinky pinky and perky with contrasting bikini styles.
Stacey, 26, who finished third on the 2009 series of the talent show, seemed to have trouble keeping hers on while on holiday in Ibiza. Meanwhile, last year’s winner Louisa, 18, showed how it should be done while on a break in L.A."
Uh, gross.
Not one to be dragged down so easily, Solomon had a response at the ready. She tweeted the following upon discovering the less-than-kind article: "I LOVE MY BODY @TheSun My boobs are a result of being pregnant & breast feeding & I love them. I Am just as sexy!"
It's super important that Solomon expressed this sentiment, particularly for women who feel pressured by the media to conform to an ever-unattainable beauty standard. Because if someone like Solomon can shake off the haters, well heck, why can't we?
Her followers soon took up the rallying cry, and what happened next was nothing short of inspiring.
The response was instant. Solomon received an outpouring of support all over social media within a few minutes of her tweet being posted. She shared this photo shortly after with the following caption: "[Heart] ur comments so much. It Means a lot. currently swinging my saggy maggies around the pool on holiday with these 2."
Clearly, Solomon knows the best medicine for cruelty is always positivity. Kill 'em with kindness — and jokes about the joys of motherhood!
Everyone has a beautiful body, and shaming anyone for the way they look only reflects poorly on the person saying mean things. Solomon not only stood up for herself that day, but she stood up for the rest us, too. We appreciate all the positivity that she's been sharing with the world!
With her poise, talent, and no-nonsense attitude when it comes to injustice? I think she certainly deserves the Disney princess wedding she's been dreaming of. Take a look at the following video for more! It's super adorable.
