A scared, starving, and lonely dog wandered onto the Harlandale High School campus in San Antonio, TX.
On their way to seventh period, a group of five male friends noticed the dog on the track, basking under the hot sun. At first, they wanted to approach her and pet her — but as they got closer, they realized the dog was in terrible condition. Instead of leaving her alone to get to class, the students led the dog to a shady area with a bowl of water. They stayed by her side until a representative from a local rescue could come and take her to a vet clinic.
As it turned out, the dog — who the boys named Londyn — is a 6-year-old mixed breed. She was completely neglected, covered in ticks, and suffering from heartworm. Now, she has a long road of recovery ahead of her, but she's finally in safe hands and on her way to finding her forever home. Had it not been for these five students, Londyn's life may have taken a tragic turn.
It's wonderful to see young teens step up and show how kindhearted they can be. The boys have nothing but well wishes for the dog they so heroically saved, and are looking forward to hearing her updates and seeing her again soon. These young men are amazing human beings!
