On December 18, an Arizona father woke up to the sound of his 2-year-old daughter crying in the middle of the night. When he went to go check on her, he found a very alarming scene.
The father said he found a strange man sitting in his living room with the toddler on his lap. According to The Washington Post's sources, the strange man then said, "I'm your friend."
The intruder allegedly tossed the toddler onto the couch before engaging in a 10-minute struggle with the father.
The mother called 911 while the father attempted to keep the suspected intruder at bay so authorities could deal with him.
Police said the stranger's name turned out to be Oren Aharon Cohen. Authorities said he nearly managed to escape the apartment complex, but officers arrived just in time to apprehend him. He then allegedly resisted arrest.
Police said that Cohen's shoes were found in the 2-year-old's bedroom and that his coat was wedged between her mattress and her wall. They also said his passport was found on the floor next to her bed.
Luckily, the toddler's clothing was not tampered with.
The video below shows Cohen having his charges read to him as he attempts to explain himself. He said he had a lot to drink that night and claims that he thought the toddler was a "midget."
It's hard to imagine that this is anything less than most parents' worst nightmare, but kudos to the parents for their quick response during this pretty troubling encounter.
