Horse Crashes Through Bridge And Gets Stuck, So Firefighters Use A Helicopter To Get Him Out

While old, rickety bridges have their old-world charm, it may not always be the best idea to cross them. They may be fragile, and can break from right under your feet if you're not careful!

Of course, thankfully, we don't often come across these structures, especially those of us who live in a city. But in other places, like Switzerland, they still exist and are used on a regular basis.

One woman was leading her horse across such a bridge, but the wood broke under the animal's hooves and he fell through. He became wedged in between the planks, in danger of falling through.

Firefighters and a vet quickly arrived on the scene. The vet determined that the horse was only slightly injured, and sedated him so he could be pulled out of the trap — by helicopter.

Using pulleys, the firefighters airlifted the animal from the bridge, and brought him back to his farm, where he is hopefully getting the treatment he needs.

It must have been quite a sight from the ground. Many people certainly looked to the sky and were perplexed by the large shadow under the helicopter, only to realize that it was a living, breathing animal!

Thankfully, the horse is expected to fully recover.
