Female Student Hits Back When Teacher Embarrasses Her For Wearing A Tank Top To School

As many parents know, following school dress-code guidelines can be a little difficult. You have to pay attention to everything your child or teen is wearing, keeping in mind skirt length, sleeve length, exposed skin, and banned styles.

As many people point out, these rules apply mostly to girls; boys don't often have to follow dress-code guidelines because their bodies are not considered to be a "distraction."

This is exactly the kind of thinking that sixth-grade student Molly Neuner wants to change. She stood up to her school's "sexist" dress code after she was made uncomfortable during an incident involving a teacher.

According to Molly, the teacher measured the straps of her tank top — a shirt she had worn to class before — to make sure they were the allowed length.

Molly then decided to hit back. The next day she returned to school with a different tank top to prove her point. With a marker, she wrote on one of her exposed arms, "#IAmNotADistraction."

Her behavior encouraged other young ladies to fight back. Together, they all broke the dress code.

Do you think school dress codes should not make girls like Molly believe that their bodies are "distractions"?
