I’m sure we all remember those less-than-eventful prom proposals around which our high school buzzed toward the end of the school year. Sometimes there were flowers, sometimes there were notes, and sometimes a nonchalant passing conversation about a mutual agreement to attend as a pair (my personal favorite).
A couple months back, the most thoughtful sports-minded friend in all of America managed to get an entire Jets team to ask her unsuspecting classmate to prom. It made for a beautiful story and a night that they’ll both remember forever. There was a similar story where a student who’d been bullied most of his life was awarded the prestigious Prom King crown by a thoughtful classmate who made sure that the title found its way to the most deserving man in the room.
The video below echoes a similar note of thoughtfulness in young teens who go the extra mile for their classmates. Kara Marcum of Bolivar, TN was elected Basketball Homecoming Queen at Bolivar Central High School by her classmates, who consider her among the most popular students on campus. But what makes this story special is that Kara suffers from Down syndrome, and her perseverance in overcoming her struggles on a day-to-day basis is what encouraged her classmates to crown her their Queen.
