Her Dog Adopted Baby Guinea Pigs!!

For centuries, Airedale terriers have been used in hunting, many times to rid areas of small vermin. While you may not think it's a good idea to let one of these dogs get close to small animals, this heartwarming story goes against all odds and warms your heart in the process.

Meet Sunshade — a loving, sweet Airedale who took an unusual interest in a very unlikely species: guinea pigs! Yep!

You see, Sunshade was diagnosed with a subcutaneous cancerous tumor when she was about 10 years old. She underwent surgery to remove the tumor with great success; the cancer NEVER came back.

There's another part of the story, and this is where the piggies come in: Sunshade's mom would take her to pet stores every week, where this kindhearted canine would affectionately watch the guinea pigs for as long as she was allowed. So, when the time was right and Sunshine's cancer was in remission, mom brought home the adorable guinea pigs Sunshade had always wanted — and from that day on, she kept a watchful eye on her beloved "babies" and treated them as her very own.

Though beautiful Sunshade passed away from old age in 2014, her incredible spirit lives on in this video, which tells the story of her and her guinea pigs. The dog amazingly accepted the small creatures as her own babies and formed a truly unique bond with the animals. If this heartwarming story doesn't put a smile on your face, then I don't know what will.
