Before 13-year-old Andrese Duke was approached by his teacher with a life-changing idea, he felt like an unseen kid at his school. Duke, who has autism, has a very difficult time make friends and talking to his peers. When a teacher from his Grand Blanc, Michigan middle school asked if he wanted to dress up as the school's hero, Victor E. Bobcat, he suited up and took on a secret identity!
Although some people may call it hiding, Duke feels confident in the suit. It makes life easier for him to approach people, give out high fives and hugs. He would not be able to do this on his own. So even though the suit may be a crutch, there's no doubt that this is helping the boy to someday have the confidence to feel good on his own.
