Sometimes I think they underestimate the sense of humor of American audiences! A few years ago, the furniture company IKEA released a series of racy commercials in France, and then the rest of Europe, encouraging folks to "tidy up" their homes. One stood out from the rest for its seemingly sexy premise, but by the end of the ad, I wasn't anything but laughing in stitches.
A woman and her boyfriend sit on the couch for a date. They're sharing a plate of spaghetti, and to get into the "mood," she begins to eat it sensually. She puts a noodle in her mouth flirtatiously. Like the adorable dogs in Lady and the Tramp, she puts a strand in her mouth and his, then they share a kiss. Finally, she gets on the floor with the plate of spaghetti…
She thinks she's put another sexy noodle in her mouth, but turns out, it's his dirty, ole musty shoelace!
We've all had moments where we're trying to be serious, but something so unbelievably awkward happens, and all you can do is laugh at yourself. We have a feeling after seeing this commercial, bachelor pads around Europe got a whole lot cleaner!
