There is nothing more satisfying than making something with your own two hands. This is especially true if you build your own home.
Thanks to the Tiny House Movement, more and more people are getting the opportunity to design and construct their own pint-sized abodes. This is due in large part to affordability, but the fact that there are so many tiny house resources online that offer support, workshops, ideas, and inspiration really helps the movement expand and evolve.
Case in point, some companies actually post floor plans online and sell the raw materials needed to create the house of your dreams.
Tumbleweed is one of these companies, and their design called “Cypress” is a favorite amongst tiny house enthusiasts for its traditional craftsmanship and floor plan specifically devised to maximize small space living.
When someone decides to utilize the Cypress model, usually the exterior stays pretty much the same, but it’s fascinating to see how different people customize the inside.
Airbnb user Hannah is one of the many who decided to build her very own tiny house using one of Tumbleweed’s most beloved designs, but what makes her version different is the creative touches she used to make it her very own…
Hannah decided to build her house on wheels, that way she had the freedom to move it wherever she wanted.
She decided to name her tiny house “Maiden Mansion” and it was finished in Seattle, WA.
Looking at the interior during this phase, it’s hard to believe that it would eventually have so much space that Hannah now claims she has “more storage than I can fill!”
The exterior shows off a traditional design, with clean cedar cladding and purple accents to make it pop.
But the inside is where the personality lies.
Inside you’ll find an airy and smart layout with tons of light spilling through the walls.
Additional skylights make the place feel sunny and spacious.
The main living space even has a secret hiding within its walls.
A dining room table can be pulled from the wall.
The dining room table can also transform into an additional bed for guests.
A beautiful fireplace keeps the whole house warm, which is the perfect situation for snuggling up with one of Hannah’s 100 books she stored inside!
There is also a full kitchen with seven feet of counter space, pantry space, a convection oven and microwave, two burners, a hammered copper sink, a full size refrigerator.
Not to mention gorgeous details like a copper sink.
Plus a few personal touches that make this kitchen truly feel like home.
There is also a laundry shoot with a washer and dryer.
There is also a staircase with unique built-in storage that light up at night.
Upstairs is a cozy loft with plenty of headroom.
The loft doesn’t feel snug being that partial privacy wall is designed to make it feel more open.
There is also a bathroom that would feel perfectly comfortable in a larger-sized home.
The bathroom’s décor is just a personal as the rest of the home.
It's a home anyone should be proud to call their own.
