See A “Turtle’s Eye View” Of The Great Barrier Reef

While we think of the ocean as a vast, the long-term pollution of its waters have had irreparable consequences on its ecosystem. "Dumping" in seas worldwide has jeopardized aquatic life and is actively being castigated by the World Wildlife Fund. Sometimes it's important to remind people of the many creatures below the surface, and that's exactly what this video aims to do.

Australia's World Wildlife Fund teamed up with GoPro for a special project to help raise awareness about the dangers of dumping. In order to show us exactly what we're going to lose if it continues, they fitted a sea turtle with a light camera for a turtle's eye view of the Great Barrier Reef — it's breathtaking.

“Australia has promised to prioritize the health of the reef over damaging activities like dumping dredge spoil,” said WWF International's Director General Marco Lambertini in an article published to WWF's website. “UNESCO will be watching to ensure that the condition of the reef improves in coming years, as will the 550,000 WWF campaign supporters and millions of people worldwide who are deeply concerned and want to see a stop to industrial destruction of the Great Barrier Reef."
