Mom Worries When Dozens Of Nurses Swarm Delivery Room, Then Doctors Say Her Baby Will Die

Scott and Gwen Hartley have three beautiful children: Claire, Lola, and Cal.

Cal was born first, and he was a happy, healthy baby from the get-go. But when Gwen gave birth to her second child, Claire, doctors and nurses swarmed the delivery room and she knew something was wrong.

Claire was born with microcephaly, a condition in which a baby's head is significantly smaller, usually due to abnormal or stunted brain development.

Doctors told the Hartleys that she wouldn't make it past a year, but Gwen didn't accept that as her beautiful daughter's fate.

And she was right not to. Claire is now 15 years old, and although she has developed cerebral palsy, scoliosis, dwarfism, and partial blindness, she's still a Hartley, living with a family that loves her more than anything.

When Gwen got pregnant again, she was faced with the decision to terminate or not because her second daughter would be born with many of the same issues, as the condition is genetic. But her son Cal, who has no medical issues, convinced her not to let his second sister go.

Today, the family of five calls themselves the Hartley Hooligans. They have a lot to say, and we have a lot to learn from them.

These beautiful girls aren't bad, they're just girls with microcephaly who are fighting every day to survive.
