Neeka is a gorgeous retriever mix. She is a very sweet and loving dog. But Neeka is misunderstood. Her anxiety has made people believe that she is scary, instead of realizing Neeka is the one that is scared.
Since 2015, Neeka has been at the Hempstead Town Animal Shelter. She had been found chained up and abandoned in an apartment. It was obvious that she suffered extreme neglect and abuse at the hands of her previous owners. Because of the horrors this poor pup suffered, she has many trust issues. She doesn't know what humans she can trust, and because of that, she has been coined an "unadoptable" dog. But not if John has something to do with it!
Hopefully Neeka will have her freedom walk soon, just like Titus the pit bull.

Neeka is now 5 years old. This beautiful girl experienced pain that no dog should ever go through the first four years of her life.
Because of the abuse, Neeka does not like people or other dogs. She doesn't trust them.
But when she is with her trainer John, she becomes a puppy that loves to train and play. He is the only one she trusts.
Neeka is so anxious, she can't even sleep on a dog bed.
John believes that her previous owners used it to harm her, and now Neeka cowers if she sees a dog bed.
Neeka needs to be rehabilitated so she can finally learn to trust others and find a forever home.
A YouCaring page was set up to raise funds to help Neeka.
There is great news! The $2,700 goal to help rehab Neeka has already been reached! The surplus of donations will be given to other dogs in need.
