Beautiful pieces of furniture need not only come from pricey furniture stores.
When Imgur user khwoodworking's home needed a new dining room table, he flipped through all sorts of different furniture store catalogues for inspiration. However, after looking at their listed prices, he doubled down on his DIY-ing skills to craft his dreamy reclaimed barn wood table.
Before embarking on his build, this designer collected pile after pile of old Indiana barn wood, patiently awaiting the perfect planks for his particular project. After choosing the key pieces he wanted to use in his design, this thorough builder carefully rehabbed each wooden plank, removing old nails and screws to avoid any accidents down the line.
After hours of hard work and ingenuity, he had a beautiful new dining room masterpiece, worthy of many a dinner party.

When Imgur user khwoodworking's dining room needed a new table, this DIY-er chose early on to build a new design himself, rather than shell out hundreds of dollars on a store-bought version.
To both save money and achieve the weathered look his dream design warranted, this diligent upcycler spent quite some time accruing all sorts of gloriously tired pieces of reclaimed barn wood.
Once he had the perfect planks picked out for his project, this builder meticulously stripped any lingering nails, screws, and so on.
With each wooden piece thoroughly prepped, this maker set his table top pieces out in front of him, arranging and rearranging until he found his ideal layout.
To achieve uniformity amongst the planks' widths, he ran each piece through the jointer and planner.
He chose not to run the pieces' top faces through, hoping to preserve their weathered look and feel.
Once he squared up the sides of his table top with a straight edge, and lightly sanded its top face, he began work on the legs.
He clamped and tested each leg out before gluing, ensuring they were level and straight.
Then, he glued each leg together.
This builder also crafted a skirt to attach the table's top.
To accommodate the wood's probable future movement, he chose to fasten his piece with the oversize holes joinery method.
To further secure his table's design, he added a trestle to its base.
Finally, coated with spar urethane for durability, his gorgeous table was complete.
By tapping into his upcycling and DIY-ing skills, this builder transformed old barn wood planks into a beautiful, cost-effective new dining room table, perfect for entertaining large crowds.
