In 2018, Viktoria Nasyrova reportedly laced a cheesecake with a tranquilizer, gave it to another woman, and then stole the woman's passport and cash in a bid to take on the woman's identity.
Nasyrova was convicted of attempted murder in the crime on February 9, 2023. District Attorney Melinda Katz of Queens County, New York, commented that the jury "saw through the deception and schemes of the defendant."
Katz added, "She laced a slice of cheesecake with a deadly drug so she could steal her unsuspecting victim’s most valuable possession, her identity. Fortunately, her victim survived and the poison led right back to the culprit."
Nasyrova reportedly took the cheesecake to the home of Olga Tsvyk, a 35-year-old woman and her friend. Tsvyk was later found in a coma in her bed by another friend.
Richard Brown, who is also with the Queens district attorney office, told the media, "The woman ate the cheesecake, fell ill and laid down. Before passing out, the woman’s last memory is of seeing the defendant sitting beside her inside her home."
