Cats are notoriously superior creatures. They like to be the masters of all they survey, and what they like best of all is when everyone knows it, and respects their all-mighty feline authority. Especially dogs. Dogs needs to know who’s boss.
So you can imagine this group of cats’ consternation when their owner brings home a very obvious rival, in the form of a taxidermy wildcat. Clearly, the kitty hierarchy is totally upended by the addition of this fearsome predator, regardless of how deceased and stuffed he may be.
The video starts with just one of the housecats eyeballing the interloper, but he is quickly joined by a variety of other cats with a stake in the turf war. Everyone spends a minute assessing the strengths and weaknesses of the enemy, before one brave animal stalks up for a closer look.
Despite this bold initial sortie, what follows is not a proud moment for cat-kind. Or for that matter, for the one dog in the room.
As it turns out, these cats, for all their noble countenance, have a distinct ‘panic first, think later’ instinct. But we’ve seen cats face down live alligators before, so maybe it’s a sort of feline mob psychology?
In any event, this speedy retreat from an inanimate object probably at least made the dogs of the world feel a little bit better. They may not be justified in their terror of trash cans, furniture, and their own reflections, but at least they aren’t alone!

…wait for it. Here's what happens when you bring a wild cat home. Their reaction is priceless.
