Bride Goes Into Labor On Her Way To Wedding, But Nurse Won’t Let Her Miss A Thing

An Oklahoma bride and groom were on their way to their wedding. The bride, Hilary Shuffield, was pregnant, so the couple decided to stop at the hospital for her routine setup.

Hilary took a stress test, which revealed that she was in fact ready to give birth.

“The doctor gave us the news and said, 'The baby is on its way right now. You're in labor as we speak,'” her husband, Jason Shuffield told KOCO.

Hilary gave birth to a baby girl named Miriam. Although they had her dress and Jason's suit ready to go, they needed to remain at the hospital.

It became clear that the couple would have to miss their own wedding. However, a nurse named Kelly Jones was not going to let that happen.

“I scurried around and was going to make this happen. I wanted it to be a surprise,” Kelly said.

The hospital staff put up decorations, even creating an aisle for Hilary to walk down. They also prepared a two-tier wedding cake. It may not have been the day they expected, but that doesn't mean it wasn't perfectly special.

“It was very overwhelming," Hilary said. "I just couldn't believe that people who barely know us for 24 hours had gone out of their way to make things so beautiful.”
