There are few things that truly live up to the expression "take your breath away," but I'm certain that the one shared in the video below by a kayaker is one that would be appropriately described as such.
On a recent kayaking adventure at sea, a man stumbled on something wildly extraordinary and had the good sense to pull his camera out to record it. Bobbing in the water, he points his camera just a couple feet away from himself, where as many as ten different whales are breaching the surface of the water.
And much like another recent drone-captured video of a blue whale breaching in Sri Lanka, the footage is absolutely stunning.
"Here are about ten 40-ton animals," says the kayaker, "fifty feet long, diving within about two feet of my kayak — barely leaving a ripple." And it's true; as they breach the surface and create "rainblows," they all appear to be creating little or no significant change in the water around his kayak. (And thank goodness for this fella, because a slap to the water's surface from one of these massive animals could be enough to flip his entire kayak.)
The experience he has instead — as evidenced by his exclamations of "Crikey!" — is one of utter astonishment at the majesty of these massive and incredible creatures.
