It's an unfortunate part of life, but a lot of wild animals get hit by cars. When the natural world and manmade world come into contact, animals often suffer.
Luckily, there are many animal hospitals around the world that are prepared to help injured animals.
A lot of these veterinary clinics or wildlife hospitals take care of animals hit by cars on a daily basis.
The Israeli Wildlife Hospital in central Israel, located just outside of Tel Aviv, does a lot of work in nature conservation.
Their Facebook page explains that they believe every animal species has the right to life, dignity, and health.
The hospital primarily focuses on animals harmed by humans, and in addition to helping injured animals, they also educate the community about better ways to preserve the natural environment.
In March 2017, the Israeli Wildlife Hospital received an injured hedgehog.
She'd been hit by a car and a Good Samaritan decided to bring her to the hospital.

Both the man who found her and the hospital staff were astounded that the hedgehog had not given in to her injuries.
She was barely clinging to life, and they were surprised that she hadn't succumbed.
While the hospital staff members were assessing her injuries, they put the sweet hedgehog through an X-ray.
It was then that they realized why she'd been so insistent on staying alive, despite the bad state she was in.
She was pregnant!
During the X-ray, the vets taking care of her realized that there were five tiny babies inside her.
Luckily, hospital staff was able to get the mama hedgehog to a stable condition by making sure she was fed, warm, and recovering from her head wound.
Just weeks after they found her, the mama gave birth to five healthy babies.
The spiky, pink newborns were weighed and measured, then put back with their mom, who began breastfeeding them and caring for them immediately.
If the mom ever needs help raising her babies, she knows she can count on the hospital staff who saved her.
According to The Dodo, the Israeli Wildlife Hospital cares for around 3,000 wild animals every year, working to rehabilitate them and release them into the wild.
Although the rescuers were able to do a lot to help the expectant mom, she wouldn't have made it if it weren't for her own internal strength and willpower.
This just proves that humans aren't the only ones with a natural mother's instinct — animals have it too.
Every animal is worthy of being treated well — it's so great that this wildlife hospital is able to help so many injured wild animals.
