Woman’s Wind Chimes Go Missing, Then She Finds Little Boy’s Note About Late Mom On Door

When Chrissy Marie saw that her wind chimes had gone missing, she was perhaps even more surprised by what had taken its place: a short note, clearly written by a child, and a $5 bill.

The note was heartbreaking, and it left Chrissy no longer feeling mad about her wind chimes being stolen from outside her home.

The note read: "I am sorry that we stole your windchimes [sic] our mom died and like butterflies so my sister took it to put by our window I am sorry this is only money I have please do not be mad at us Jake."

The innocent child included the $5 payment in hopes of quelling the homeowner's anger, but Chrissy instead took to Facebook to try to find Jake. She wanted to return the money to him, and give him another wind chime so he and his sister can each have one.

She pleaded on social media: "Well Jake, I'm not sure who you are but you can come get your money back sweetie. I had 3 of those windchimes [sic] you can come back get your money and have 1 also so both of you have your own. I am not mad please come over to my house."

She tells LittleThings.com, "I know how it feels like to be grieving at a young age: I was 5 when [my mother] died."

Update: Chrissy says that the little boy's aunt has come forward: his name is Jake, but he and his family wish to remain anonymous for the time being.
