Hailey Custer, 28, is a mom of four who lives in Arizona. From what it sounds like, she's the type of person who is always looking for a way to give back. Unfortunately for Hailey, she's just found out that her husband of six years has been cheating on her over and over again — and he even had a baby with her good friend.
Hailey told her story to The Sun, explaining that she helped deliver her friend's baby and has even been taking care of the baby from time to time. In fact, that's how she found out about the cheating in the first place.
Hailey took in her friend after hearing rumors that she wasn't doing OK. She said, "I heard rumours that my friend was pregnant and homeless, so I reached out to her. I felt the need to help her."
She could tell her friend and her husband were close, but she didn't think too much of it, explaining, "We are all charismatic people, so we all had that nature to be charismatic around each other and make jokes. I didn’t see anything there. I was very naïve so I just didn’t think it would be possible for someone to do that."
It turns out her husband and the baby share a distinguishing birthmark, which Hailey noticed while helping out with the baby. "We had just got home from the hospital and I was changing the baby and when she turned her neck the birth defect popped out," she said. "When they’re babies it is really hard to see, and I wasn’t looking for it."
The situation is complicated by the fact that Hailey went above and beyond to help her friend during the delivery of her baby: "In the hospital before I found out, I stepped into that father figure role.
“I was there for her every step of the way. Even in the hospital I wore the daddy wrist band, when she got her epidural, she laid on me."
Hailey has managed to put the transgression behind her and to have a relationship with her friend despite what happened (though she and her husband are no longer together). She explained, "Now we have this innocent child who had no say in this whole situation, you have someone who doesn’t have anywhere to go, who has no family, we’re not going to kick them to the streets."
Hailey is even managing to put all of the children ahead of herself: "I kept thinking of my kids, at the end of the day that is their blood sibling and I’m not going to be the one who causes harm to that child."
