I have pretty rough feet. I wouldn't exactly say my feet are gross, because I still get pedicures pretty regularly, but they're definitely not super smooth.
I was talking to friends about some of the experiments I'd been doing, like this menstrual panties experiment, and one of them mentioned that she'd used an interesting product recently: Baby Foot.
Baby Foot is a foot peel that claims it makes your feet as soft as a baby's foot.
I'd used foot peels before and liked them, but they definitely didn't make my feet feel that soft.
All the friends I talked to who'd used Baby Foot before said it was insane and that their dead skin just peeled right off their feet. I couldn't wait to try it.
I ordered my Baby Foot box online and was more than excited to make my feet softer than they'd ever been before.
Since I knew I'd be getting to try out Baby Foot, I decided to forgo my regular pedicure and let my feet get even grosser.
And by the time I was ready to use Baby Foot, my feet were definitely ready.
What Is Baby Foot?
According to their website:
Baby Foot is an innovative foot care product that will make your feet as smooth and soft as a baby’s foot. The unique formula of 17 types of natural extracts allow your feet to exfoliate naturally leaving them highly moisturized.
Where To Buy Baby Foot
You can buy Baby Foot at a variety of stores, but the easiest place to buy it is probably online.
I bought mine on Amazon, but you can buy it at other places as well.
How Does Baby Foot Work?
The website explains:
Baby Foot is an unparalleled, total foot care package that provides you with the opportunity to care for and maintain your feet at home. Our scientifically formulated product contains 17 types of natural extracts which exfoliate and moisturize at the same time.
In addition, the Fruit acids such as Glycolic Acid and Critic Acid allow the dead skin cells to peel, but the Alcohol makes the dead cells soft, and the Salicylic Acid, Lactic Acid and Isopropyl stimulate a flaking effect as well.
The fruit acid penetrates into the layers of dead skin cells and breaks down the desmosomes which hold the layers together.
By this process, skin is undamaged but peels easily away from the fresh layer beneath. After peeling, your feet are reborn just like a baby’s foot, giving you healthy, beautiful feet.
Baby Foot Peel Safety
Because it's a chemical peel, Baby Foot soaks into the top layer of skin to break up the connection of dead skin cells — then the dead skin peels off later.
For most people, Baby Foot is perfectly safe and effective, but Good Housekeeping reports that you shouldn't use the peel if you have any open cuts or sores, skin sensitivity, corn calluses, or warts.
How Do You Use Baby Foot?
Baby Foot is really simple to use — in the box, there are some plastic booties and stickers, and that's all you need.
You simply cut open the booties, slide your feet in, then tape them so they're tight to your feet.
After that, you can put on socks to make the booties more comfortable. You leave the booties on for an hour, then take them off and rinse off your feet. And that's it.
A few days later, all the skin on your feet will start to peel and flake off.
My Baby Foot Experience
Before putting on the peel, I rinsed off my feet and soaked them for a few minutes — the box said soaking your feet might make the peel more effective, so I was definitely willing to do anything to make the peel even better.
Next, I put on the booties, taped them up, and threw on a pair of my favorite fuzzy socks to keep all the gel pressed against my feet.
I spent the next hour relaxing and washing television, then I rinsed off all the gel and threw away the booties.
Then it was time to wait. After taking off the booties and rinsing off the gel, my feet felt pretty dry. Even though the box said I could put on a little lotion, I wanted to let the peel do its magic, so I let them be.
The instructions say your feet will take three to seven days to start peeling — mine started peeling on Day 5… and it was dramatic.
On the fifth day, I got home from work, took off my socks, and was legitimately shocked at what I saw.
Skin was peeling off my feet everywhere.
I started peeling the skin, and it came off in huge strips.
Every time I'd used foot peels before, small amounts of skin would come off, but nothing like this. I was amazed.
Yes, it was a little gross, but if you don't mind this kind of thing (which I obviously don't), it's really satisfying.
Being able to see the results of the peel feels incredible. When I touched the skin underneath the peeled part each time, I was surprised at how soft my feet actually felt.
Most of my skin came off on that first day of peeling, but the instructions said not to peel anything that didn't feel ready, so I tried my best to stop when my skin naturally stopped peeling.
Over the next few days, more skin kept peeling — even my toes and the tops of my feet started peeling, which stunned me.
Almost all my skin had finished peeling off within a few days, but little bits continued flaking for days afterward.
"Before" And "After" Photos
It's hard to tell how effective the foot peel was in this photo, but believe me when I say it was incredible.
Every positive review of Baby Foot is entirely accurate, and I can't believe I didn't try it earlier. I don't know if I'd say my feet are now quite "baby soft," but they are definitely close.
Final Thoughts
Would I use it again? Yes! I've already looked into how soon I can do another foot peel (they recommend using it every two months), and I'm honestly considering buying these in bulk.
Would I recommend it to a friend? Absolutely — in fact, I already have! I've told multiple friends about how amazing Baby Foot is and I can't wait to hear about their results.
