On LittleThings' Facebook Live show Slice, we invite the bravest and boldest members of the food industry to take on our "Leftover Makeover Challenge," in which they must transform leftover food into an entirely new dish.
This week, we invited MasterChef finalist Caitlin Jones to work her magic on a leftover rotisserie chicken. The young foodie started sharing her kitchen creations on her paleo blog back in 2015. Her creativity in the kitchen combined with her winning personality were enough to get her on Season 8 of MasterChef.
When she's not in the kitchen, the Pittsburgh native is breaking a sweat in New York City as a Flywheel instructor and professional dancer. Naturally, Jones' cooking style is very healthy and in line with her active lifestyle.
“Cooking nutritious food is super integral to me and my career because I’m a dancer and I’m a fitness professional,” Jones told The Almanac. “I have to eat well, but I don’t want eating well, in terms of nutrition, to mean bland or unflavorful food. It’s really important to me that everything I cook tastes great and also serves me well nutritionally.”
Today, Jones will have 20 minutes to put her own healthy spin on leftover rotisserie chicken. Some of the ingredients she will have access to include:
- Fresh dill
- Celery
- Red onion
- Avocado oil
- Lemon juice
- Raw eggs
- Salt
- Pepper
- Mustard
- Buffalo sauce
- Shredded cheddar cheese
- Cream cheese
- Ranch dressing
- Fresh parsley
- Carrots
- Garlic
- Gingerroot
When her 20 minutes are up, the final dish will be judged on taste, presentation, and creativity. Will Caitlin be able to turn a rotisserie chicken into a five-star culinary creation?
