As a little girl, I remember being curious as to why some of my friends would get $10 bills or even pieces of jewelry under their pillows when they lost teeth. I only ever got dollar bills. What gives, tooth fairy?
Of course, by the time I was old enough to actually realize what was going on, I had lost all my baby teeth. Turns out that my teeth were not less valuable; my parents were just tooth fairy purists (or maybe just cheap).
Either way, what the tooth fairy leaves under the pillow is slightly different in every household.
Whatever it left is supposed to be a reward for the milestone and growing up. Since part of growing up is learning how to take care of teeth, the two should go hand in hand.
However, when dad Henry Warren inspected the condition of his son's tooth, he decided that he wasn't going to reward bad behavior and decided to write him a letter instead.
Losing your baby tooth is all very exciting for a number of reasons. Perhaps the most exciting? Waking up with a present under your pillow.
However, Henry Warren's son was going to find more than cash under his pillow.
The dad recently posted on Twitter about his clever solution to his young son's brushing problem, and people online loved it!
His post was retweeted more than 6,000 times and favorited 18,000 times, with hundreds adding their two cents in the comments section.
After Henry's young son lost his tooth, he received £1 under his pillow, but he also got a typed-up note, from the desk of Barry T. Tooth Fairy, complete with official letterhead.
It reads:
Dear Mr Warren,
This letter is to inform you that I have now taken receipt of your tooth and it is being duly processed in our system.
You will have noticed there has been a delay in your payment for the tooth.
Mr Warren, I have to inform you that this is due to the condition in which we found said tooth.
We expect a certain amount of wear and tear on the teeth we appraise. However in this case your tooth had to be referred up to the committee for further analysis.
We believe this is due to the lack of care and attention by yourself.
We have detected more than trace amounts of Fanta and residual amounts of both cereal and chocolate which have not been removed by appropriate brushing technique.
We recommend you review your practice here as a matter of urgency.
Mr Warren we will accept the tooth on this occasion but we need your assurances that the condition of your next tooth will be significantly better or we will withhold payment.

When Henry shared his parenting technique on Twitter, it was complete with the caption, "Our son is dreadful at brushing his teeth. Turns out the Tooth Fairy has had enough."
Many users rejoiced in Henry's sneaky way of getting his son to take care of his teeth.
After all, they are formative years where he will hopefully learn how to take care of himself and his teeth before the more important adult chompers grow in.
