We all know the saying that goes, "Don't judge someone until you walk a mile in their shoes." It's unclear whether the phrase predates the popularization of high heels, but it sure makes a lot more sense with them in mind.
In fact, a lot of idioms relate shockingly well to high heels. In particular, "Pain is beauty."
As women, we've probably all succumbed to pain in the name of fashion at one point or another. However, few devices can be more cruel after a long day than high heels.
You may know about the health risks associated with wearing heels, but sometimes a special occasion demands them.
Heels may be a necessary evil, but unfortunately, necessity doesn't stop your feet from hurting at the end of the day.
So, what can stop them from hurting? If you're this woman in China, the answer is your boyfriend trading shoes with you.
Photos have recently surfaced on Chinese social media platform Weibo of a couple in a waiting room who appear to have traded shoes.
The boyfriend is being hailed a hero, and has been unofficially nominated for the "boyfriend of the year award."
According to Daily Mail, the photos were snapped in the Shapingba district in South Western China by an onlooker who noticed the act of selflessness.
The couple was in a hospital, where the woman was waiting for a doctor. She appeared to be in some discomfort.
Of course, it's not so hard to miss a man in pink heels, especially when he wears them as proudly as this.
In fact, he has a lot to be proud of. Users on Weibo have been calling this the "look of love."
According to witnesses, the girlfriend even offered to switch her shoes back with him.
The boyfriend of the year refused and proved to everyone that chivalry is still alive and well.
For many women, even looking at a pair of high heels can make them seethe in pain — and with good reason.
High heels have plenty of drawbacks, from knee pain, to bunions, or even nerve damage.
It is certainly not unusual to have to remove your heels prematurely after a big night or day of pounding the pavement.
It may not exactly be sanitary, but sometimes your feet just can't take it anymore.
Provided all the discomfort involved, it's no surprise that the age-old high heel trend never quite caught on for (most) men.
Of course, there is an exception to every rule, and in this case, we tip our hats to the hero hospital boyfriend.
Do you think this guy deserves a "world's best boyfriend" trophy?
