Each and every family has their own particular set of Christmas traditions.
The British royals, for one, have a few of their own, including giving one another "gag gifts" for the holidays — something I'm sure Meghan Markle will love when she joins them for the first time this year, ahead of her wedding to Prince Harry!
But there are some traditions that are practically universal. Those include putting up a Christmas tree (or even an upside-down Christmas tree) and having the kids write letters to Santa.
Even little Prince George penned a note to Santa (and had dad Prince William deliver it personally) asking for just one gift this year!
The tradition of writing letters to Santa dates back many years. One Twitter account @TweetsOfOld (run by an anonymous history buff under the pseudonym "R.L. Ripples") shares single-line clips from old newspapers. In the 25 days leading up to Christmas, R.L. Ripples decided to dedicate all of their tweets to sharing letters to Santa from yesteryear — and some of them are absolutely hilarious.
