Scammers Pose As Oprah Online To Steal Money And She Is Having None Of It

Oprah Winfrey is one of the most giving celebrities on the planet. With her philanthropy and dedication to helping others, she never misses an opportunity to do what's right.

So when she was alerted to the fact that a stranger had been posing as her online and stealing money, she wanted to put a stop to it as soon as possible. Knowing that her fans are so dedicated to her, Oprah was scared that they would blindly listen to the fake account and hand over bank information and money.

On December 21, 2017, she used her Instagram page to post a video warning her 11 million followers about this person.

Standing in front of her Christmas tree, Oprah filmed an important message to her fans about the fake profiles that are popping up all over social media.

"Hi everybody, I just wanted to let you know that somebody out there is trying to scam you by using my name," she explained.

Oprah usually uses her Instagram page to tell her millions of fans about the items she loves.

Oprah is known for helping others, so she wanted to warn her fans about a potential fraud lurking online posing as her.

In her video (shown above), Oprah explained that an impostor is using her photo and name.

"I just wanted you to know that somebody out there is trying to scam you using my name and avatar on social media asking for money," she explained.

Like many celebrities, Oprah has been in the public eye for decades. With the popularity of social media, it's making it easier for people to scam fans.

Oprah went on to say that the scammer is telling people to sign up for an OWN account and asking for money!

"It's a fraud, it's a fraud, it's a fraud!" she sing-says in the video.

Over 422,000 people have watched the video, which will hopefully keep that many people safe from the scam.

"Don't give up any of your bank accounts or personal information to anybody posing as me or anyone else for that matter," she advised.

Over the years, more and more celebrities are being used as a way to scam unsuspecting victims.
