On February 2, 2018, actor and musician John Stamos posted a touching tribute to his late friend, Jimi Jo Rush.
The dad-to-be uploaded a photo of himself and Jimi Jo from many years ago and wrote a sweet caption about their friendship. "A brother, hero and mentor," he wrote. "God Bless you Jimi Jo."
John received hundreds of comments from fans showing their support for the actor during this difficult time. However, there were quite a few strangers who slammed the Hollywood actor after he asked for donations for his friend's family.
At the end of his caption, John explained that Jimi Jo's family has been left with debt and invited fans to donate through a link on his profile page. Shockingly, some fans used the comments section to berate John for asking others to donate when he is a millionaire.

John Stamos recently came under attack from fans when he posted a tribute photo to a close friend on Instagram.
The 54-year-old actor and musician revealed to fans that his friend, Jimi Jo Rush, had passed away.
"A brother, hero and mentor. Turned me on to Surf Music w/ his band Papa Doo Run Run at Disneyland, changing my life forever," he wrote in the caption.
But it was the end of the caption where he asked for donations for Jimi Jo's family that angered some fans.
Instead of writing a message that could help John during this difficult time, one stranger said John should be helping the family.
Sadly, the rude comments happened more than once on the touching photo. This commenter found it ridiculous that John, who makes more than his fans, is asking for money.
However, many of John's fans came to his defense on the matter. "If you don't have extra or don't want to donate then don't," this fan wrote. "No need for nasty comments when someone is grieving."
What many of the rude comments didn't realize is that John is the one who created the donation page for his friend's family.
The actor wrote a touching tribute on the donation page for his late friend.
"He was a mentor/older brother who watched over me, protected me and helped shape who I am today," he wrote. "And not just me, he was good to so many people that were lucky enough to enter his life."
At the time of publishing, the donation page has reached over $7,000.
"We started this fund to help pay for his 'Celebration of Life' and help Debbie with the debt and expenses she needs to get on her feet and begin her new life without Jimi Jo," John wrote. "I, of course, will contribute as much as I can."
John has since publicly donated $1,000 to the donation page. Sadly, his generosity had been overshadowed by hurtful comments on his Instagram.
John Stamos has yet to acknowledge the rude comments. Our thoughts and prayers go out to him and Jimi Jo's family during this time.
