While on duty, it's not unusual for some police officers to come to the rescue of helpless animals.
We've seen the sweet act time and time again, and sometimes these poor animals were found in less than ideal circumstances.
For example, a cop in Indianapolis saved a tiny dog after she was hit by a car. And who could forget about the New York City police officers who rescued a goat from his fate at the slaughterhouse? In both cases, the animals got a well-deserved second chance at life.
Cops from the Big Apple (shown below) also proved to be animal lovers.
Police Officers Nicole Piridis and Roman Goris acted quickly when they got a call about a mysterious suitcase sitting in a parking lot. Inside, they found seven little kittens left to die.
The 90th precinct in Brooklyn, NY, shared photos of the smiling officers holding the kittens — and they are sure to bring a smile to your face!
"These lil' guys were thrown in a suitcase & saved by officers Piridis & Goris," the precinct wrote on Twitter, also asking anyone with information to come forward.
The New York Post reports that surveillance footage shows a man throwing the suitcase in the early morning, but they weren't able to identify him right away.
After an examination, doctors at the Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition discovered that the kittens were no more than 2 weeks old.
Unfortunately, one of the seven kittens didn't survive. The other rescued cats, however, will soon be up for adoption.
