Having a gentle pet around a baby, in my opinion, is one of the greatest things a parent can do for their little one.
Of course, you want to be very careful when introducing the two, especially if the animal was there first. You'll want to make sure that your pet won't get territorial when you bring a baby home. Then, when your child gets a little bit older, you're going to want to supervise playtime closely, just to make sure that your pet doesn't get a little too rough-and-tumble with the kid. After all, we've all seen how cats and dogs play with each other!
Once you've made sure that your cat or dog gets along just swimmingly with your child, you can give yourself a nice pat on the back, because you've just introduced two best-friends-to-be.
When a young child has a pet to play with, they learn to be gentle, and they learn to love animals. This relationship helps to teach empathy, an essential human emotion.
When this big husky and a baby girl are having some quiet playtime on the carpet, the baby girl happily offers him one of his toys. The pup isn't necessarily interested, though.
Then, the two stare each other down for a bit. After a moment of wondering what the dog is going to do next, he stands right up and moves toward the girl. Make sure you watch til the very end!
