Many new moms, while so excited for the journey ahead of them, experience some very serious postpartum symptoms.
Not only can mothers experience changes in their mood, but the experience of giving birth can affect a woman's entire body, her psyche, her behavior, and her ability to think straight or sleep normally. Women who have never experienced these symptoms before giving birth find these new anxieties and behaviors very alien. It's hard to be a mother and figure out who you are at the same time.
However, there is a natural cure for this: the placenta.
The placenta has nourished the baby for all of those months inside of the womb. It's often disposed of after birth, but it can be extremely beneficial for the mother postpartum as well.
Carmen Calvo used to think that the idea of ingesting her own organ after giving birth was, to put it frankly, gross. She was quick to dismiss her doctor's offer to prepare the organ for her to take home. Then, she started experiencing anxieties and a depression that she'd never felt before. Five months after giving birth to her first child, she found out she was pregnant again.
That's when she realized that maybe all the hype about the benefits of the placenta were grounded in truth.
Now, she dedicates her life to helping new moms stay happy and healthy.
