The next time you think about tossing away that rusty, old fire pit, you'll want to take a look at this amazing upcycle by Peter Brown. Peter was planning on getting rid of that fire pit after it had run its course. After taking a second look at it, he realized the frame would be perfect for a coffee table. Using nothing but some found walnut wood, Peter used the fire pit as the base and the walnut as a countertop. The results are a stunning rustic coffee table that goes perfect on his patio.
The project isn't for beginners and does require a saw. However, you can measure the diameter of your tabletop out and have it cut to size at a local hardware store. While not everyone would be willing to take on a bigger project like this, I think most will get a kick out of seeing how it all comes to life. Videos like this show us that there are materials ripe for the picking everywhere. There's no sense in getting rid of something when it can be transformed into something else that is functional. It's great for the environment and our wallets!
