The untimely death of music legend Prince has saddened thousands, if not millions, all over the world. Footage of his rare and intimate performances have surfaced online, and fans everywhere are mourning the loss of such an incredible artist. His death has also prompted many to pay homage by playing some of his most famous songs at their concerts. Band member Adam Levine's rendition of "Purple Rain" is simply extraordinary, as is Bruce Springsteen's.
Not to be overlooked is the tribute by musician David Gilmour. Formerly part of the famous British rock band Pink Floyd, Gilmour's skills on the guitar are perhaps comparable to Prince's. The two rock superstars may have had very different styles music-wise, but both are among the most talented performers to share our music libraries today. It was only fitting that Gilmour pay tribute to Prince the best way he could — with an incredible stage performance that also featured "Purple Rain."
On April 24th, the guitarist took the stage, and sang the Pink Floyd hit, "Comfortably Numb." But the audience must have been shocked when he seamlessly transitioned into a stunning guitar solo of "Purple Rain," complete with purple lights to honor Prince.
