When our pets get sick, there's not usually a lot we can do besides try our best to help them. But this can be very expensive, and take a financial toll on families who can't bear to see their beloved dog or cat perish. This goldfish owner had so much love for his pet, he paid for surgery to remove his tumor! It's hard to accept when it's time for our pets to pass, but sometimes, by miracle, they pull through.
Jim and Jennifer are a couple who love giving a home to rescue and foster dogs. But when their pit bull, Pearl, got sick, they tried everything in their power to cure her, even if it meant accruing huge bills from the vet. Pearl was losing weight rapidly, regardless of how much she was eating, and how much she was being fed.
One vet was able to help Pearl get on her way to recovery, thankfully. But with $16,000 in bills, Jim and Jennifer needed a little help. Jennifer's students heard about her plight and pitched in to help: with a lemonade stand, they raised $120 for Pearl!
But when the couple appeared on Ellen, host Ellen DeGeneres had a special surprise for them, which would surely be one they would never forget.
