I'm not the type of woman who likes to discuss her age, but let's just say that I can definitely remember when things were a little different for women. I remember my mother wore a skirt pretty much every day, and there was a home-cooked meal on the table every night. She took great pride in her role as "homemaker," but my dad was the boss.
So is my husband the boss the of me, too? Not a chance!
My husband and I like to make decisions together in all things, and while I enjoy cooking a big Italian feast for my family on occasion (especially the holidays!), you'd better bet I like coming home to find my husband has made a meal for me instead.
These hilarious vintage coffee commercials hearken back to a "simpler" time, when it was clear that a woman's place was in the kitchen. Whenever I wish things were more like "the good old days," I remember that maybe the good old days weren't always that good. I can't believe some of the things that the husbands in this commercial say to their wives.
I'll tell you, if my husband ever talked to me the way the way these guys do, I wouldn't be saying, "Oh, I'm sorry, honey!" I'd be saying, "Yeah? Well, enjoy sleeping on the couch tonight."
Do you remember commercials like these? Personally, I'm glad things have changed and that we're moving forward. I definitely have bigger things to worry about than making my husband the perfect cup of coffee every day.
